Amazing extended weekend this has been. Think I could do with one of these about once every couple of weeks, really. On Saturday, Sarah and I left for FC to spend some quality time with my family, which consisted mostly of vegging out at my Gran’s and eating loads of greasy, not-so-healthy foods. But first - we had to stop for gas, of course.

eat it up, chevy.
Sarah pumping gas. Self-explanatory, methinks.

pajama party.
Ready to veg. And yes, those are my pajamas.

Made it to FC safe and sound, though it did rain the entire way - which seemed to be the theme for the weekend. Gran cooked up a yummy batch of fried chicken and mashed taters, and we spent copious amounts of time engaged in the ancient art of TV-watching. Quite a relaxing evening.

The next morning we awoke ready to tear the balls off of Worlds of Fun. The weather was gorgeous, bright and sunshiney; though, outside the city, the sky started to do really strange things that scared the bejeezus out of us.

mist-ic river. (that was punny.)

here comes the sun?

fog, there's fog!

Luckily, the fog decided to clear long enough for us to enjoy the delight that is Worlds of Fun.

worlds of fun. in da house, yo.
Look at the rollercoasters!!1 *wets self in excitement*

We rode all the rollercoasters twice, except the Boomerang, because it totally makes my stomach go all crazy-like. The Patriot is the first inverted rollercoaster I’ve ever been on, and I could have ridden it a hundred gazillion times in a row - it was that wicked. Something about there being nothing but air below your feet as you’re thrown from side to side and turned about at 50 mph makes one feel so… jostled. But in a good way.

After gorging ourselves on extra-greasy funnel cake, we made our way home to Lincoln. On the way, the sky decided to do some more very strange things that scared the bejeezus out of us again.

rainbow bright.
Pretty rainbow.

the sun plays pee-a-boo.

rain. and lots of it.
The rainstorm we had to drive through to get home.

there goes the sun.
Sunset through the rain-drizzled window.

Despite the elements, we made it safely home and immediately fell into our beds, where we slept soundly for what seemed like a million hours. Woke up this morning realizing that I had the day off of work, so I spent most of it doing… absolutely nothing, really. And it felt fantastic. Tomorrow, however, means a return to work and some sense of normalcy. Quite unfortunately.

Time to plan my next holiday. I’m thinking London. April of next year. Though Nadia is attempting to persuade me to spend a week in Russia with her husband’s family next summer. A week at dacha sounds absolutely amazing, too. Better start saving now.
