Council Bluffs, IA - Westfair Amphitheater
Jen - 06.12.99

Once again I saw the J's. Angie and I went to Rockfest II in Council Bluffs, IA. The main reason I went to Rockfest was to see our guys (2 Skinnee J's, in case you haven't figured that out), but once I heard Kid Rock and his band, the Twisted Brown Trucker Band (mainly Jason Krause), were going to be there I freaked... but that's a different review for another web page (hopefully mine if I get it up). Anyway, back to the J's...

Before their set, Angie and I spotted Joel by the fence. By this time, I had forgotten about the band that was playing (Angie's note: that would be Clever - who are very awesome, by the way...) and tried to look for the other J's. Eventually Joel came out and was standing about 20 feet from where Angie and I were sitting. While we were deciding whether or not we would go talk to them, Eddie came out. That was the deciding factor. We went over and talked to Eddie and Joel for a while. I got my picture with them. I don't think any of us heard what the other said because the music was so loud, but that's when lip reading comes in handy. The picture was great - it's one of those that screams "We're big dorks!" Joel had on these big sunglasses and wore this outfit that made him look even skinnier than he is (if that's possible). I'm just standing there with this big dumb grin on my face. Eddie was standing there with his gold bug eye sunglasses on, an apple in his hand (and what appeared to be a beer in his other :o) and his cheeks puffed out... definitely a classic Kodak moment. On to the performance...

Once again they rocked. They were the only band that Angie and I risked our lives for. We braved the mosh pits and went up to the front. We were in the second row. It was so much fun. Angie was more worried about getting the perfect picture than the many body surfers, so I watched for her. The crowd had been pretty much dead until the J's came on. Obviously if you've seen Angie's pictures, you can tell how much fun it was. Between the two of us, we took three rolls of pictures on them just at Rockfest. Call us crazy! Angie and I have sort of adopted the guys as our band now. We are always promoting them. Whenever I find out someone was at Rockfest, I ask them if they liked the J's. Their answers are always the same... "Yeah, I loved them! They are so awesome!" I guess that says it all...
