Lincoln, NE - Royal Grove Jen - 09.07.99 The concert was on a Tuesday night at the Royal Grove in Lincoln, NE. We got to the concert early, because a local band, Blacklight Sunshine, was opening for the J's and the Hairy Apes. A friend of mine is good friends with the drummer in the band, so we thought we'd check it out. They were so awesome. The Hairy Apes were next. They were a pretty cool band, we enjoyed them a lot. Finally the moment came. It was time for our J's to entertain us all... and boy did they ever! We were in the front the whole night. The guys are so amazing to watch, they really make the crowd part of the show. There were so many little things that happened at that concert that made it all the more enjoyable. During "Mindtrick," Noah (J Guevara) got right in Angie's face as he was singing and the two of them just sang away. This was the first time I heard "BBQ" live. During the song, Stevie came over and played away right in front of me (so seductively, as he does). As he was walking away, he turned around and grabbed his ass. He pointed at me and asked me if I wanted it. Do I want it? Hell yeah I do! As if he had to ask... ;o) Along with most of "Supermercado," they played some old favorites from "Sing, Earthboy, Sing," and even blessed us with a couple new ones, "Loud Neighbor" and "World In Her Eyes." After the show, Andy was talking to us about the new songs. He asked us if we liked them... of course we did! "World in Her Eyes" is especially awesome.
