Norfolk, VA - The NorVa
Angie - 12.31.03

I just had to do it. And by 'it', I mean 'fly halfway across the country (again) to Norfolk, Virginia to see the 2 Skinnee J's play a kick-ass show'.

New Year's Eve, baby. Amazing show. Huge crowd (though a little asshole-ish, at times). The J's, who I have been missing like crazy as of late, taking the stage promptly at midnight and playing a 26-song set that lasted two hours. But the definite highlight of a highlight-filled night: SECRET muthafucking FREQUENCY. I could not believe my ears. Or my eyes. Because seeing the J's come onto the stage for the encore with Eddie on guitar and Lance on bass is just kinda... odd. But in a good way, of course.

Setlist:
01. Horns of Destruction
02. Friends Don't Let Friends Listen to Rap Metal
03. Irresistible Force
04. Mind Trick
05. Riot Nrrrd
06. Wild Kingdom

08. Deal of the Century
09. The Whammy
10. Pluto
11. Big Beat Evangelists
12. You're a Champion
13. Next Big Thing
14. The Good, The Bad, and the Skinnee
15. One Summer
16. Girl With the World in Her Eyes
17. Who Wants This
18. BBQ

21. Loud Neighbor

23. 3 Minutes

Encore:
24. SECRET FREQUENCY
25. (718)
26. Sugar and Candy

I was quite surprised that they didn't play The Best, especially since they played The Best intro... but instead of continuing the song, they launched into BBQ. We were all thrown for a loop, but it was definitely a nice surprise.

And I simply cannot end this mini-review without mentioning yet again that they played Secret Frequency. Yeah, did you see that?! SECRET FREQUENCY. I slipped into a state of euphoria for about four and half minutes, and didn't come out of it until the next morning. They played Secret Frequency. They did. I heard it. With mine own ears.

Thanks once again for a fantastic show, guys. Let's do it again next year.
