July 4th, 2000 Welcome 2 Skinnee J's fans, old and new, to the latest edition of the 2 Skinnee J Newsletter. As many of you know we have been doing some shows this past month with our very good friends 311 and Incubus covering ground from Long Island, NY to Virginia Beach, VA, and then hitting a few spots on our own and with the soon to be famous Infectious Organisms and Evil Bad People (more on them later). Hopefully you had an opportunity to see us and buy some of our merchandise (which is still available through our website, 2skinneejs.com), but if you didn't I will fill you in. During the 311/Incubus shows we typically played a half hour set starting at 7pm to a sparse but enthusiastic crowd and then went out and spent some time mingling with both those who wanted to talk to us and those who simply wanted us to get out of the way so they could watch the band they really came to see. This was a stroke of genius on my part as it allowed me more time to study both Incubus and 311, models of Rock and Roll and financial success, so that I could apply what I learned to the J's and make some cash. An unexpected and disturbing side effect was that young female fans were somehow duped into believing that Stage Bunny Burke was the cutest of the non-gold hat wearing members of the band (I never counted on that one). Hopefully it will spur the other guys to work on their own handsomeness, something I believe to be a key element in the recipe for Rock success. God, I hope I'm wrong... Of course all of the guys were happy to be playing some shows after such a long layoff, especially in so many familiar places. We even returned to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for an unprecedented 3 shows in 2 days where we played with - surprise - Evil Bad People, featuring ex-Skinnee guitarist A Dot Mays. Thanks to my special psychic therapy he has once again become a functioning being, though not yet a useful one. Without question the "tour" was a resounding success as it had all of the elements one looks for: good bands, nice people, nice people giving me money, nice people with a guy-in-a-bunny suit fetish and the reunion of a mediocre band with their crazy ex-guitarist. It was also a perfect warm-up for the release of our upcoming 2nd major label album, Volumizer, set to hit the stores on September 12th so PLEASE BUY IT! It features music that even I don't hate, was produced by Mickey P, who also produced Beck's Midnight Vultures album, and even has some good musicians playing on it (Mikey B of Fat and Dose of Shootyz Groove). I'm not telling you this for my health people; I'm worried what I might do to the band if I take another loss.. THE ALMOST THE LAST SHOWS OF THE SUMMER TOUR! We hope to see all of you at all the shows, but if you can only make a couple that's ok. Just remember that you get extra Champion credits for showing up. However, we will not be doing a chat room on Monday, July 10 because we will be playing a show in Wilmington, NC (rescheduled from June 9th). We will resume duties on July 17th, promptly at 7:30 p.m. The great Stumpy will man the evening and will be answering ALL of your questions. Perhaps he will even tell you of his meeting with Boris Yeltsin. ON-Line 2 Skinnee J's Club! A big thank you from Street2SJ as the Skinnee Army Street team is growing rapidly. As the time between now and then narrows, the street team is gearing up for Y2J. ON-LINE MERCHANDISE and OLDER CD'S An appology to all Skinnee Supporters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 2SJ was scheduled to perform at the Milwaukee Summerfest on June 30th, but was unable. Rumor has it that Stumpy noticed the alignment of the first 2 planets and the sun was not correct, and thus a dangerous atmosphere for such a rock and roll spectacle that day. Just a rumor however, truth of the matter is United Airlines cancelled the flight 2sj was supposed to be on, and another flight was unable to be accessed. The flight was cancelled due to "weather problems". Track 10 on the movie soundtrack of the blockbuster film "Boys and Girls" is the 2 Skinnee J's own, "BBQ". The song, which was released in 1997 by the 2 Skinnee J's, appeared on their album, "Sing Earthboy Sing", which happens to be available on the official 2sj merchandise webpage. Anyhow- BBQ was recently remixed in the studio time spent on Volumizer and is available nationwide. Again- Track 10, "Boys and Girls" Soundtrack, BBQ by 2 Skinnee J's.
