October 2002

From the Greatest Mind on Earth:

Welcome 2SJ fans to another edition of the 2 Skinnee J's newsletter featuring AJ Stumpy Johnson. In the coming weeks, you will all have the opportunity to either come see a show we are playing locally or travel a huge distance to come see us. As usual I plan to be there, but from time to time I find that some of my other awesome responsibilities get in the way. The last tour, for instance, I was summoned to give inspirational lectures at various NFL camps and, in one case, work with Giants QB Kerry Collins to eliminate a hitch he had in his throwing motion. More recently, I have received an appointment to the White House staff as Minister of Old Sayings, a post created this past week in response to President Bush's flub of the classic "Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me." saying this past week. Bush's version was "Fool me once... shame on... shame on... shame on you... Fool me can't get fooled again!!". It is this exact kind of embarrassing discrepancy that it is my job to curtail now, an especially important job now that President Bush is trying really hard to look smart in front of other world leaders. I got this job in part because the White House knew how discreet I could be in fulfilling this role and also because of my vast knowledge of things that are "Old Timey" and from "The Olden Days". In the interest of avoiding more gaffes like this one, I am in the process of coaching the President daily and, as an emergency measure, making up sayings that sound like they are old-timey and pertinent, but actually make no sense at all. It is here where you , the fans, might be able to help me. If you have any obscure or recently made up sayings with faux relevancy please tell me at a show in the near future so I might make a note of it. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated and you will receive a certificate of achievement in the mail. Thanks again.....

A.J. "Stumpy" Johnson

NEWS!!
We've spent the better part of the summer trading off between writing and touring. We had a great time heading across the country and meeting up with 311 for some incredible shows in Colorado and the Midwest. We also got to play with two of our favorite bands, Jurassic 5 and the legendary De La Soul. On that tour we unveiled two new songs, One, and the song currently known as "Cool Beat." Since then we've been working on new music and have just finished another called Who Wants This which we'll be playing at upcoming shows. Check the websites for Lyrics and song snippets.

Special Low Dough Show at the Norva in Norfolk, VA, Friday, October 11th!!!!!
To thank our fans for their loyalty and support, we've made special arrangements with the Norva Theater in Norfolk, Virginia to play a special ALL AGES show with a low ticket price. Tickets will be only $5.96 so make sure to purchase tickets ahead of time by calling the box office at 757-627-4500 or get there EARLY as it will surely sell out. For those of you who have never seen a show at the Norva, it's one of the best places to see shows on the East Coast, so it'll be worth the trip. See you there.

Upcoming Shows
For those of you who haven't seen in a while, we've been working on new music, all certain Skinnee classics, and have been been playing new songs at the shows. We'll be heading down as far as Florida this fall, with a trip to the Midwest planned for early winter and most of the shows are all ages. So see you at a town near you.
